Verne Troyer, il mini-me di Austin Powers, è morto a 49 anni

È morto Verne Troyer, il Mini-me clone del Dottor Male in Austin Powers. A dare l’annuncio è la famiglia, con un post su instagram.
L’attore, nonostante fosse affetto da nanismo, era riuscito a diventare un’icona della cultura pop, ma questo non gli aveva garantito la serenità: nonostante le cause della morte non siano ancora state rese note, nel post si allude a depressione e suicidio.

Depressione e suicidio sono problemi gravi. Non si può mai sapere quali battaglie qualcuno sta combattendo nella propria testa. Siate gentili gli uni con gli altri. E sappiate sempre che non è mai troppo tardi per cercare qualcuno che possa aiutarvi.

It is with great sadness and incredibly heavy hearts to write that Verne passed away today. Verne was an extremely caring individual. He wanted to make everyone smile, be happy, and laugh. Anybody in need, he would help to any extent possible. Verne hoped he made a positive change with the platform he had and worked towards spreading that message everyday. He inspired people around the world with his drive, determination, and attitude. On film & television sets, commercial shoots, at comic-con’s & personal appearances, to his own YouTube videos, he was there to show everyone what he was capable of doing. Even though his stature was small and his parents often wondered if he’d be able to reach up and open doors on his own in his life, he went on to open more doors for himself and others than anyone could have imagined. He also touched more peoples hearts than he will ever know. Verne was also a fighter when it came to his own battles. Over the years he’s struggled and won, struggled and won, struggled and fought some more, but unfortunately this time was too much. During this recent time of adversity he was baptized while surrounded by his family. The family appreciates that they have this time to grieve privately. Depression and Suicide are very serious issues. You never know what kind of battle someone is going through inside. Be kind to one another. And always know, it’s never too late to reach out to someone for help. Troyer è famoso, oltre che per il suo ruolo in “Austin Powers – La spia che ci provava“, per “Men in Black“, con cui aveva debuttato sul grande schermo, “Paura e delirio a Las Vegas” e “Parnassus“, che al momento è in post-produzione. Senza contare il cameo in “Harry Potter e la pietra filosofale” e nel video di Madonna “Beautiful Stranger“.

Nel post su instagram si dice che l’attore era un combattente, che ha lottato a lungo contro i suoi problemi: era già stato infatti ricoverato per problemi di alcolismo, e qualche giorno fa si dice che sia stato portato all’ospedale in seguito ad una chiamata alla polizia che faceva riferimento ad avvelenamento.

Negli anni ha combattuto e ha vinto, ha combattuto e ha vinto, ha combattuto ancora, ma sfortunatamente questa volta è stato troppo difficile.

Verne Troyer era nato a Sturgis, nel Michigan, in una famiglia Amish, cultura che però i genitori abbandonarono quando lui era ancora bambino. La sua famiglia si è poi trasferita a Centerville, sempre in Michigan, dove nel 1987 si è diplomato alla Centerville High School.
La sua carriera da attore è iniziata quando è stato contattato dal presidente dell’associazione Little People of America, che gli ha procurato il suo primo ruolo, nel film “Baby Birba – Un giorno in libertà“.
